It’s tough because some employers I’ve had have been very accommodating. Others, less so. But you have a good point — some employers with find ways to discriminate that are subtle, if not invisible, to the outside observer. Others still don’t realize that ADA compliant doesn’t always mean “accessible.” They’ll throw up some grab bars in their bathroom and call it good, oblivious to the fact that the bathroom door is too narrow for most wheelchairs to fit though. Sometimes it seems like willful ignorance.
